This makes me yet again reconsider my resolve to do drum brakes on my DL-1.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08892553888930861596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-53023555682838365022011-05-16T18:19:21.610-04:002011-05-16T18:19:21.610-04:00Kool Stops are the best brake pads I've ever h...Kool Stops are the best brake pads I've ever had on my bike. Actually on any of my bikes. I don't plan to ever buy any other brand again unless they mess up. Both the S_M and the Koolstop use iron oxide in the rubber formulation (which gives them that distinctive color).cyclerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10331461189944538729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-19965527651927649582011-05-16T14:20:35.370-04:002011-05-16T14:20:35.370-04:00I have no problem with the color of the koolstops-...I have no problem with the color of the koolstops--think it's actually kind of subtle. But my 1932 rod brake bike actually has brake pads that are a similar brick red color (and they are powdery dry and crumbling, though still functional, so I'll be glad to replace them with the new ones).Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05544085626784199782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-70579430779231078302011-05-16T12:22:22.301-04:002011-05-16T12:22:22.301-04:00On a related note:

I believe Harris also carries them. Some purists hate the look of those salmon-colored pads, but they really improve braking on steel rims.MT cyclisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17451590809473759574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-36187136221077009152011-05-16T11:48:55.849-04:002011-05-16T11:48:55.849-04:00Oh--I am so getting my rod brake geek on! Will be making a special trip out to Harris to grab a couple of pairs of these. Thank you for the heads-up.Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05544085626784199782noreply@blogger.com
