Or can it?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-38008416604368809352010-09-09T12:33:31.528-04:002010-09-09T12:33:31.528-04:00Boston *has* implemented some very important impro...Boston *has* implemented some very important improvements in cycling infrastructure this summer. First was getting the SW corridor repaved. Second was extending the Commonwealth Ave. bike lanes (and narrowing the car lanes) past BU. There are surely some others, but those two were monumentally important to me.<br /><br />Also, construction has begun on the Fitchburg Cutoff Path, which will be like a Minuteman Bikeway just for Belmont.Herzognoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-48566590227060425952010-09-09T09:33:19.609-04:002010-09-09T09:33:19.609-04:00He's basically extrapolating from "women ...He's basically extrapolating from "women I see in my shop" to "all women who ride bikes," without realizing he may be seeing a highly self-selecting sample. We seem to be getting more marked bike lanes, but not much in the way of improved parking.Moopheusnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-78426435702984720492010-09-09T00:24:33.319-04:002010-09-09T00:24:33.319-04:00"I'll choose to ignore the implication th..."I'll choose to ignore the implication that bikes are a trend, like Yoga."<br /><br />I agree with the entirety of your analysis of the article. But I do think that the growing numbers of women in cycling IS a trend as much as yoga is, and that is not a bad thing. I would also argue that people that like to transport cycle also probably like doing yoga. Both increase your fitness and make you happy-- precisely why they are trendy.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08892553888930861596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-58286294397874508782010-09-08T21:53:19.867-04:002010-09-08T21:53:19.867-04:00This from someone who just made a post on his own ...This from someone who just made a post on his own blog about his discovery of the benefits of purses - in a style that most women would tend to turn their noses up at...Steve Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13650405341304401203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-30133503263276607502010-09-08T21:52:04.709-04:002010-09-08T21:52:04.709-04:00He (it sounds like a "He" comment), migh...He (it sounds like a "He" comment), might have been OK if he'd instead said "women and men have different ideas about bike style and comfort."Steve Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13650405341304401203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-55070747213575152762010-09-08T21:42:25.108-04:002010-09-08T21:42:25.108-04:00some trends change how we live...so I welcome the ...some trends change how we live...so I welcome the idea of a biking trend.
