My bike was stripped and left for dead. Your bike looks great I have just received a Raleigh DL-1.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-66182015331034943872012-03-02T19:53:12.072-05:002012-03-02T19:53:12.072-05:00Thank you! I'm still undecided about the light--love the idea of a working generator, but I've also talked to a guy at my LBS about converting the headlamp to an LED which would be brighter and probably allow me to take it on and off rather than having it wired permanently to the bike. The generator is also a little cluttered-looking and interferes slightly with the rack/stay connection (btw, the rack did come from the Old Bicycle Showroom and I love it--so solid and handsome, though your flash shows up some rust I've got to tackle...). Would be curious to see the basket set up, though I might end up feeling the same as you did. If you want help reconnecting the light...Hey Sarah,
If you want help reconnecting the light, I might have enough extra wire to help you do it. I also have a "basket support" which is essentially designed just for this purpose. I ordered it from England where they have a lot more rod brake bikes around (possibly from the place you got your steco?) , but ultimately decided I didn't like how it looked with the lines of the fork. If you wanted it though, I'd sell it to you at cost.
http://www.theoldbicycleshowroom.co.uk/adjustable-wicker-basket-support-frame-374-p.aspcyclerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10331461189944538729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-39890891234401493762012-03-02T14:52:39.643-05:002012-03-02T14:52:39.643-05:00P.S. Such good energy, especially from Nicole, and such a strong year, full of progress and great news!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05544085626784199782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-71297429534429630752012-03-02T14:16:06.921-05:002012-03-02T14:16:06.921-05:00Hey--that's my bike! Very flattered to see it ...Hey--that's my bike! Very flattered to see it up here. It's a 1965 model and yes, in very decent shape and my daily ride unless it's raining hard. The rack is a NOS Steco. The balloon generator does seem to work, but the wire connecting it to the miller headlight had been snipped and I've never had it fixed, hence the clip-on lights. The basket was a Valentine's present from my sweetie and I love it, though I did have to remove the headlight and haven't come up with a solution yet to keep it from pressing against the rods when I have anything heavy in it--suggestions welcome!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05544085626784199782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-86222157842406752492012-03-02T08:48:24.461-05:002012-03-02T08:48:24.461-05:00Nice pictures of the DL-1.
