The only thing that gave me pause were the expansion joints on the Alford St bridge over the Mystic. They're a saw-tooth pattern, and look like they could eat a narrow bicycle tire if you hit them at the wrong angle. I have pretty wide tires, and hit them perpendicularly, and didn't have any problems.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-73173196459175106812012-05-03T17:54:43.273-04:002012-05-03T17:54:43.273-04:00I live in Winthrop and commute to the Back Bay. 99...I live in Winthrop and commute to the Back Bay. 99 isn't too terrible, especially after making it through the produce market. It's wide and there are a lot of bikers, as there's no other way to get into Boston proper from the north, unless you want to go out through Revere, Everett and Medford.Kristinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14787704641873309263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-55024239313500990542012-05-03T11:22:32.607-04:002012-05-03T11:22:32.607-04:00It rhymes with Spaniel if that helps :)It rhymes with Spaniel if that helps :)cyclerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10331461189944538729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-18617085672925556832012-05-03T10:38:18.095-04:002012-05-03T10:38:18.095-04:00I find bicycle direction signs extremely helpful, ...I find bicycle direction signs extremely helpful, and when they include distances, all the better. You basically have to go along part of Route 28 either all the way in to Boston, or cut over to Sullivan Square via Assembly Square Drive and then take Main St in Charlestown to the N Washington St Bridge. Both routes definitely take some skill, but they are certainly doable.Charlie D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12894581357760437121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-81918080633065762782012-05-02T22:29:04.217-04:002012-05-02T22:29:04.217-04:00The largest of these signs has been installed at t...The largest of these signs has been installed at the intersection of Winter and Tremont Streets at least as of this morning. It has multiple 'tourist' destinations listed. Unfortunately didn't think enough to take a photo. I wonder if the current wayfinding signage is geared toward tourist usage of Hubway as a pilot?Brooksiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13952313904084782054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356723782465446786.post-74516691062797053712012-05-02T22:17:41.593-04:002012-05-02T22:17:41.593-04:00So, would those signs work for the hard core out o...So, would those signs work for the hard core out of towner?
