wish we had this here

The New York Times has a front page, above the fold, story about British prosecution of texting while driving.

It's great to see laws and enforcement to restrict texting while driving.
I wish we had more awareness of this issue in the US, and I'm glad the grey lady is working to build it.

  1. They passed legislation here about a year ago but have yet to start enforcing it. They want to mount an 'awareness campaign' first. I'm not even sure if it covers texting- using hand-helds while driving is all I have heard, but I think handing a few tickets would spread the word pretty quick. Grrr!
